Position Responsibilities:

The Buyer position will compile, analyze and make decisions on Maintenance, Repair & Operations/non-Raw Material (MRO) purchases required for daily operations of the Plants and Distribution Centers.  This information currently comes from various sources including Oracle, Business Intelligence, and QAD.  This data will be used to leverage our company spend on the national level and negotiate agreements with National MRO suppliers to ensure financial benefit to the company, and specifically, for each location.  This position will work with the Legal department to develop and finalize contracts for national agreements.  This position will be the primary negotiator for those areas of spend which they are assigned. This position will be a primary contact for the facilities for all indirect purchases on contracts which they negotiate, and must effectively communicate with the facilities on a regular basis.


This position is accountable for:

  • Gathering data and monitoring participation within National MRO Programs
  • Seeking out and identifying new MRO Vendors/Sources when necessary
  • Developing and implementing sourcing strategies and plans for MRO categories consistent with supporting all Business Units’ operating plans and objectives
  • Negotiating agreements for those indirect spend categories which they are assigned
  • Troubleshooting vendor issues related to assigned MRO programs as necessary
  • Communication with National suppliers who meet the expectations of the purchasing initiatives of the company
  • Coordinating Legal contracts for each area of responsibility
  • Service and quality for MRO items through vendor management programs
  • Maximize effectiveness of the Plants and Distribution Centers in relation to National MRO Program utilization
  • Other duties related to supporting Global Purchasing Department goals

Position Requirements:

Education

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Procurement, Engineering, Accounting/Finance, Operations Management, or related field.

Experience

Required:

  • 1-3 years Purchasing, Operations, Supply Chain, Project Management,
  • Engineering, Customer Service, or Marketing experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs and Business Objects. 
  • Experience communicating with all levels of management and across multiple departments both internally and externally.

Preferred:

  • 4 years Sherwin-Williams Purchasing, Operations, Supply Chain, Project
  • Management, Engineering, Customer Service, or Marketing experience
  • Oracle iProcurement exposure
  • Experience with Oracle EAM
  • Experience with Business Intelligence
  • Maintenance and Engineering exposure
  • Track record of increasing responsibility with strong performance and focus on cost savings
  • Multi-lingual is a plus

  • Location for this position will be in Cleveland, OH or Minneapolis, MN.
