DESCRIPTION: (part-time, grant-funded position) – The NCCC Child Development Center Preschool Room serves children ages 3 – 4 years old. Responsibilities include but are not limited to inventorying classroom supplies and materials; setting up interest centers, preparing needed materials and supplies, assisting children in activities, record keeping, general housekeeping, serving meals, planning and preparing parent involvement activities, and center recruitment. Current remuneration is $9.25 per hour for maximum of 28 hours week for approximately 34 weeks (10:30am – 4:30pm) Monday through Friday from late Agust through mid-May). Reliable transportation to and from work is an expectation. Positions are available commencing with the 2015 – 2016 school year.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High School graduate; minimum 19 years of age; two years experience working with children ages 18 months - 4 years in a child care center for the toddler room positions, or two years experience working with children ages 3 – 4 for the preschool room position.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services or related field; CDA Credential; BOCES Early Childhood Education graduate; successful completion of courses in Early Childhood Education from an accredited institution of higher education; two years of consistent paid experience as an assistant teacher in an infant/toddler classroom within the last four years for the toddler room positions,and two years of consistent paid experience as an assistant teacher in a preschool classroom within the last four years for the preschool classroom position.
